Price vs. Performance

I need to know some good opinions on what the best combo between mobo, cpu, and video card would be right now for good solid gaming, compatibilty (component love), and multitasking (some).

The limit for each component is about 300$. Give or take 50$ for cpu..And I really like AMD.
I do have a system in mind but I would like to get more opinions so I don't screw up.

Since there is about 204$ left over here...what could I do with that? Besides RAM.

Low end Water cooling?
Nice case?
Towards a LCD?
5.1 System?
 
Like EnderXC said, if you don't already have a nice monitor, definitely put it toward that. Something in the 19 incher LCD range, so you can show of your perty graphics. ;)
 
nah, I like crt for gaming and mine is really nice. I might just get a HDD
