Previous 14Hr Stable Now BSOD

I decided to stay at 3.6 for now, until I finish my case, even though I got 4.0 stable finally, the extra volts and heat (load in the high 70's vs low 60's) aren't worth it right now.

I reloaded my saved profile in the bios, added my storage drive, and plugged in my two printers via USB, my speakers, and digital optical for my stero in the living room, and the 2nd dvi cable for the tv in the living room. Booted up fine, then started to install all my programs again. Installed everest, and it installed fine, but as soon as it went to open and scan everything, I got bsod. Same thing twice in a row. So I went back into the bios after I reset the CMOS, and manually put in all my settings. Booted back into Windows, and Everest does the same thing. So I tried some other programs. Some installed fine, others would hang, and I would have to open task manager, and close it down that way.

I gave up and went to bed, and reran P95 to check stability again, and well it's fine.

So is it something I plugged in? How do I fix this? Let me know what info you might need.

Thanks!

I am confused did you reinstall your os? I think you forgot to tell us something.

Also prime95 really isn't the heatup/test tool to use anymore. IBT.

Give OCCT a shot. Versions 3.0 and on have some sweet testing features, including graphs that show temp over time, and record failures as well.

OCCT has IBT (intel burn test) or a very similar test built in. This will generate FAR more load on the CPU than prime95, so you've been warned. However, it's a great test of stability, and you can select how much memory it tests with as well.

Definitely worth a try. 14 hours of prime95 is not what I'd call bullet-proof stability. Are you loading all your memory as well during these prime95 runs?

Finally, and this is probably obvious, and something you've already done, but have you tried stock clocks and installing these programs to rule out some other issue causing the BSOD?

What is it you are confused about? It was stable. Once I found my stable setting I hooked everything up, printers, speakers, second monitor, rebooted, reloaded my 3.6 stable, and then programs would hang, or everest would cause a bsod. What else can I tell you? Let me know.

I know about IBT and OCCT, I passed a 25 pass on max with IBT, and a 4 hour OCCT test too. But I always fall back on P95 because I have passed both before but still failed in P95, so I use that for totality.
I usually do a blend torture test for 12 hours, then I will mix the tests up for shorter lengths on either CPU or memory.
I have not tried it on stock yet, that's a good suggestion. I think one of the problems was it was an older version of everest, and when it crashed I would get service_exception_error, and then further down I caught some glimpse thathad amd.64 in it. I downloaded the latest edition trial of everest and no problems yet. I haven't tried to install the same programs over again, that were haning before, I had to go to work. I will again tomorrow though.

Again thanks for the replies.
