Wow, Ive been outta the game for a while...my 2.4c is crapping out, as it will barely do 220fsb at 1.675 volts, so im looking into a new chip. I have an Abit IC-7 Max3 board, I was wondering what the deal is with Prescotts, if they are compatible with my board or what? I found a nice deal on a 3.0E Prescott and I want to get a chip soon before mine dies...

Thanks, as always!

I agree. I too would chose a Northwood over a Prescott. However I wouldn't hesitate to install one if the price was right. Just be prepared to handle heat issues with the Prescott chips.

I fall into the NOrthwood C over Prescott camp too, unless the Prescott was on the cheap.

A 2.8 or a 3.0 Northwood are very affordable right now.

And yeah, IC7 Max 3 supports the Prescott; you might need to update the BIOS if you haven't done so.

the thing about prescott is that if you find a way to deal with the heat (read ln2 or phase change cooling) the thing will overclock to heaven (read 4.5 ghz and up)
