What P4 3.2E cpu cooler should I buy? I put AS5 on a stock intel heatsink and it still idles at 58...new retail boxed cpu and fan too. I put a thin layer on should I put a thicker layer on? I really want a better cooling solution (Air) I dont ovclock so just a good hs/fan. I have good airflow (intake/exhaust) and the case is aluminum!
Suggestions? Thanks for the help!

If you're not overclocking and your rig has good airflow, then why bother? Prescotts are designed to handle a lot of heat.

aren't we in hardforum tho? you would need to bother... heat is our enemy.. yea it's designed to handle heat(when not oc'ed) but you can't oc with too much heat..

The threadposter isnt looking to overclock though

I would just stick with the stock fan, prescotts produce heat that we are not used to but they are built to withstand the heat. If the stock fan doesnt work then you have a problem and need to RMA it. I dont see any reason to upgrade from stock unless you are planning to overclock, and also people dont seem to have much cooler results with upgraded hs/fan, sure some but not enough to worry about.

I would stay away from this, it was good for the northwoods/k7s but it isnt producing low enough temps for the K8s/prescotts to even bother buying.
