Prescott D0 vs. E0, HUGE OCING DIFFERENCE

Where do you get engineering samples from anyway?

Can't buy them......it's been debated exactly HOW the ones that get on the net do.....but there are a number of different ways. Once they're out there they circulate around, and you pretty much have to come across someone with one that's selling it in the middle of a platform change or whatnot.

sexual favors for men actually...

ha, jk, it's all about who you know ;)
Don't be surprised if a bunch of lga775 ES's from 2.8-3.6 popping up in the classifieds in the next month or so.

Oh gawd......I guess SOMEone had to come forward with something like that.
 :p

But yeah, it's true.....the more and more you decide to get "into" benchmarking and overclocking, it really helps to know the right people. I have chosen to get hooked up with one thing or another by spending countless hours around here helping people out and developing a great rep.....but ppl that have an actual life may choose otherwise. :p

Cool, just found it the 3.6GHz ES I have here is of E0 stepping :D :and has x86-64. Thanks for the links, a good read.

Now, must get a motherboard to use it :D And maybe a vapochill and get the thing to 5ghz ;)

I have a vapo for sale if you'd like one...PM me

What are you using to monitor your temps.....and what are you doing to GET those temps.....cus even for stock cooling, a 10C delta between idle and load seems a tad small for a Pressy.

I use asus probe and temps got lower now! I think it's cuz thermal paste just started to have better contact on cpu (first post was after the first 5-6 hours of running this newly built comp).

It's now 40-45 idle, 50-55load.

O'ced a bit at 3.6ghz and the highest it went was 62*c after an hour of HL2.

Cool stuff.....you should try running two copies of Prime95 to see what the true load temp is when you're at 100% full usage. Even if no game will ever take the cpu to 100% full usage, its still good to "tune" your overclock to that kind of stress and temps...that way if you're gaming and the room temps are higher then you're used to or whatnot, the OC will still be fine.

I dunno, I seem to take this stuff a bit to far sometimes, but it still does pay off. :)

Yes, E0's are great! on a gigabyte 3d cooler too

That's what you've got yours running on at those clocks? I had a gigabyte 3d cooler and I'd really like to see what I could do with a 570J on my h2O or a Vapo LS if/when i get one around the end of the month.

I highly doubt I'm gonna find any 570J's around any FS/FT forums this early.....but i REALLY want one, and really dont feel liek spending THAT much on the 3.8E. :(

So that's when the 6XX ES's ship to the chosen few?

Good stuff, already updated the list.....but in the future, you don't have to post about your updates in other threads....I'm here enough that stuff like that won't usually slip by me for very long. ;)

So I know ppl tend to cringe when they read Celeron, but has anyone else had any luck ocing an E0 step, LGA775 version? Or ANY 915/925 LGA platforms for that matter with E0 stepping Intels? My Deleron 2.66 runs cool and will take whatever vcore I can throw at it on stoc cooling, but for some reason doesn't want to OC much on 915...

I see a lot of 865/875, but not much on the 915/925 side....

I'm actually oddly bound not to offer any helpfull insights on this matter, basically because you DID mention Celeron..... *shudders*

;)

But, but ,but it's a Presscott Delery and not a NW Delery!!! That has to count for something!! :) I read last night a guy getting his Deleron LGA775 2.66 E0 stock to 4.0 on an Abit 925 Duramax. Seriously, I think it's a 915 or just a Chaintech BIOS issue. Oh well FS/FT and NF4/939/PCIe here I come! :D
