I have a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP (1.0) My Cpu (Prescott 3.0ghz) right now is running at 67-72C Loaded. I keep it loaded most of the time too. Lucky it is remaining stable, but i'm fairly certain that it is hurting preformance wise from the heat. (I hit 72C and did not change what I was doing and both CPU's [HT] dropped to low utilization until temp dropped to 60C)

I read on newegg That the Zalman7000a will block the ram slots on my board, but the zalman site says there is no compatability problem. Does someone know for sure if there is a problem or not, and if so what HSF would you reccomend? I'm looking for something less than 26dBA on the high end.

My case does not have very good airflow anymore, since i filled all my slots. Before that CPU temp was not a problem. I keep my system loaded almost all the time; and other factors are going to raise my CPU temp further, so I need too cool it down some more.

Wow a stock 3.0E runs that hot? I have a 2.8E @ 3.5 and it runs at the same temps as your 3.0E. I have the Swiftech 478 heatsink with a 92mm Thermaltake Smart fan using the thermal sensor on it for fan speed.

I was thinking of taking the 2.8E out and replacing it with a C model because of the heat but the CPU is very stable at those temps but it still has me a bit nervous. Since a stock 3E runs at the same temps maybe I will keep it.

My system does have BAD airflow. I added 4 HDDs and the case temp&CPU temp skyrocketed. The rear exhaust feels like a ceramic heater. Today I was able to get up to 74C and nothing happened. I Looking to cool this system down and a better HSF is probobly just the first thing I will do. I don't have near the space needed for water cooling.

I have four hard drives in my system. I have the samll lan-li 60 case and I am short on room with water cooling too. I may go with a C CPU or get en koolance Al system. It is getting good reviews and it seems like an easy kit to work with. I am also thinking about trying that Zalman watercooling system with that 24 inch tube. I do not need no extreme [H]2o cooling so I think one of those kits may fit the bill.

Good luck and let me know what you do. It sounds like we have the same setup with the same problems.

I don't have any open drive bays for that sort of thing thats why I'm looking for the best HSF. And Thermo Electric Cooling is mostly ruled out because my pci slots are full/blocked.

The Zalman should definitely cut down on heat. Thermalright is another possibility (check to see if it fits though).

Even still, if your case is that warm you need to rethink your airflow, maybe an addition of some kind of ducting to the CPU would be good. Add a hole in the side of the case and use a ducting mod of some sort to bring fresh air directly to the CPU. Then find a way to duct the air out or have a fan as exhaust near it. That would work better than going fancy with just the heatsink.

I am looking into ways of getting case temp down, and improving airflow; but getting a better HSF is my first step. (Im not really concerned with anything else besides the CPU [My GPU stays cool with full system load]) I think I'll get Thermalright SP94 and put a nice quiet fan on it. Then get rounded cables and a second frontal intake fan.

yea if your wires are all over the place it will most likely block your airflow, so rounded ones will help. try to hide your other wires while you have your case open too

After i get my HSF i will cleanup inside, There is alot of work to be done in there. Use wire ties on my power cables, and tie them to run down the back side of the case.

I like your sig. I remember straigtening out flattened P1's pins and they would still work without a heatsink at load.

Water cooling isn't for me there just isn't the space for it. The price is for alot of other stuff that isn't nessesarly for CPU cooling.
