Stock cooling, temps are @ 57 with load, 2x512 kingston VR, clockspeed @ 260, dram @ 400mhz, bumped up vcore to 1.47. Running a Msi 865PE-V, Timings @ 2.5-3-3-8. I am very happy with this chip what is a good air cooler to get for this setup?

What are you doing to test load on that system? Max temp of 57C on stock cooling on that CPU with that kind of overclock is insane. Is it -10C in your room?

Just what I was thinking.....are you running two copies of Prime95's torture test, or enough things to get/hold your cpu at a full 100% usage for at least an hour?

Unless your room temp is remarkably low or your temp sensor is WAY off I don't know how you could actually be pulling that off with the stock cooler...at least after seeing my watercooling temps on my prescott....and what a friend had for stock temps with his 2.8E.

Care to fill us in? :p

It sure was fun finally having a rig clear the 4GHz mark.....and I hope you hit it to speedx, good luck. I'll be going for 4.5 - 4.7 in a few months when I'll be picking up a Phase Change setup to bring this badboy down to -40C....as even at 35C load it just won't do much more then 4.3GHz.....but I did gain 200MHz from dropping the load temp from 45-50C down to 35C.......and I just can't wait to see what -40 will bring. :D :cool:

Hehe, I'm glad I've decided to stick with my s478 for now.....good ol' "solid" technology is still worth a fair bit of attention IMO.

Not to talk down the i915 and i925's.....but i still prefer the 875 platform for Intel right now....just seems like there's that much more market backing and history/support already in place, and it has given prices a good chance to drop over time. ;)

I WISH I could be seeing overclocks like that with my 3.4E on air.....it's a very nice stepping on this chip.......but it's just like the FX-55 in the sense that it needs Phase Change cooling to really get going in the overclocking department. With h2O a lot of ppl are hitting about 3GHz with their FX-55's and I'm at 4.1GHz on my 3.4E......whereas PS usually yields 3.3 - 3.5 on the FX55 and 4.5+ for me. ;)

Good luck with your air cooling guys, its nice to still see some nice results coming out of a cooling setup that blows. ;)
