Presario Keyboard Error Workaround

I have a loaner box for a little while. Its a Compaq Presario. There is no option in the bios to set to halt on "no errors". Therefore the machine will not boot w/o a keyboard. I really need to run this machine w/ nothing attached. Its already hooked up to EMIII and VNC.

Whats a good workaround for the keyboard problem? Can I get a keyboard PS2 plug and short 2 wires or something?

I had one of these, best answer I found was selling it's parts on eBay...

There's not a solution that simple tha will work. On boot, the computer sends a message t the keyboard, and the KB acknowledges with its own code. One option you have is to gut an old KB--all you need is the cord and the integrated circuit--and plug that in.

You might check and see if it has a network server mode option. This is enabled in the bios and allows at least some of the Deskpro models to boot headless.

1. enter the BIOS
2. enable the "Power on Password"-feature
3. now you should be able to see the "Network Server Mode"-feature -->
enable it
4. unplug the keyboard, save, reboot and watch the magic...(no, it won't ask
you for the power-on password)

the problem is that you won't see the "Network Server Mode"-feature without
turning on the "Power on Password"-feature.
