Disclaimer : I have yet to purchase this particular model.
1. With the SSD 320 series, Intel finally is preparing to move into generic light duty enterprise server deployment with SSD.
2. This post is not for benchmark folks. I apologize because it seems like very unsporting conduct in a forum. As a matter of fact, I do not even expect response. I just want to draw attention to this fact.
3. With the introduction of 320 series, Intel steps forward to publish something enterprise admins can read and verify all the claims of SSD storage computing, if they intend to put MLC SSD into aggressive enterprise workload. Obviously very expensive enterprise SSD products and storage arrays do those things as well, here we are talking about Consumer-level SSD preparing to be subjected to enterprise workload.
4. Intel has published the SSD 320 datasheet with respect to server computing (a different document than normal datasheet). It also describes how to setup test and calculate media wear based on your actual workload so that you can estimate the SSD lifecycle under your specific production workload.
5. However, it does expect someone knowledgable enough to do SMART-based special data extraction and calculation. I do not have such capability. This post is written in case admins are preparing for deployment, they can research the document to get actual understanding.
Kindly check Intel web site for the said document.
[Update Feb 22, 2012]
1. There seems to be continuous issue with SSD320. For reference,
one thread in Intel (Feb 2, 2012 post)
http://communities.intel.com/thread/24339?start=30&tstart=0
one thread in Anandtech (Feb, 2012)
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2224934
2. Hence while the main topic for this thread remains the same, the additional side info above may warrant further research since this thread talks about server use.
