Predictions on 6850 pricing?

I'm looking to switch to a 6850 (I like the low power consumption as I'm now paying my own electricity and it's expensive, less power means less cooling).

Do you think the prices will stick around the MSRP for the next few months or do you think there will be a drop in the near term? Want to know whether to buy now or wait a bit.
 
They should stick very close to MSRP for the foreseeable future. Both AMD and Nvidia are looking to avoid a full on price war at this point in time, and both are selling competitively priced products. Plus the GTX460 and 6850 are new(ish) so there is not immediate card on the horizon to replace cards in the $150-$200 price segment.
 
I think it depends on whether or not nV decides to do anything more with their pricing. As it is now, AMD is probably making a decent amount of money on the 6850's since they are on a proven process.

I don't think we'll see the same low supply and high demand as with the 5000 series as there are multiple DX11 cards on the market now at varying price points.

If you can afford it now and see a need for it, get it now and enjoy it. Otherwise, wait awhile.
