Pre-Vista build...Advice / Comments please

OK, so let me start by saying that this build is not for gaming. Its more media oriented, but not necessarily a HTPC. So here are the potential essential components:

Mobo: Asus P5RD2-VM (Xpress 200 Northbridge)
CPU: Pentium D 940 (or 805 OC'ed...you tell me!)
RAM: 2 x 1gig Mushkin Enhanced Performance DDR2-667
HDD: 4 x 36gb WD Raptors (RAID 5)
Video: On-board X300 for now, adding something DX9 later

So I plan on using this once Vista hits. This definately meets the minimum reqs for Vista, but like I mentioned, I plan on getting a better video card later for good support of Aero. But also I would prefer a DVI output for my TV over the on-board VGA. (I will probably also add a PVR later) Does this look like it should be a good build for Vista? Also the big issue here is the CPU. Should I just drop the cash on the 940, or OC the 805 to a comprable speed?

Advice..Comments...
 
I'd go with the 940 (or 930). They will OC father, run cooler, and use less power.
 
Honestly I havn't really looked at OC'ing a 930 or 940. I've just been impressed at what you can do with an 805 with just a huge fan on it (probably a Zalman). Its also a cost issue: get the performance of a 940 (or maybe a bit better) with an OC'ed 805, or just pay the full price for a 940 and be satisfied with its performance and stock cooling.

If you can afford it, the 940 is a better choice. The 805 does OC considerably, but it also produces a crapload of heat and sucks a lot of power. And at stock speeds, it's not impressive at all. I see the 805 as a great option if you can't afford better, but otherwise the Preslers (9xx) are far superior chips.
 
Here's an Idea. What chipset should you want if you wanted to upgrade to a Conroe in the future. Buying a new mobo with a newer chipset would be a smart move for the future and would justify going with the 805 in terms of cost.
 
None at all. Buying a motherboard now for Conroe is just too risky. The 975X chipset is the only currently available one that is going to be supported by Conroe but you MUST get the latest revision with VRM11, and you never know if you're getting it or not. If you preorder an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe you will get Conroe support for sure but there's no telling when you'll actually get your board. My advice is to wait until the Conroe release when P965 and revised 975X boards start hitting the market in volume.
