Did I miss something here or does Firefox just ignore the things?

Any ideas?

Dano.

mmm, that's wierd, I must be doing something wrong then...

Excuse the crappy site, it's what they wanted :(

Renders just fine in IE for me but Firefox is all over the show.

Thanks,

Dano.

Looks fine to me and I am using firefox. Might wanna try and get those boxes a little more lined up. That was my only gripe.

Aha! that's what I'm talking about, they line up perfectly in IE :)

Dano.

Can't you just stuff them in a table? That has got to be easier than messing with <pre>.

Looks like the "font-family: arial;" that's set on the pre element (via the css file) is tripping firefox up.

If you get rid of that, it looks the same in Firefox and Opera where you just have to adjust the one box.

Ohhh, nice catch, will change that and try again.

Thankyou :)

for firefox, grab the web developer toolbar extension. it will allow you to edit CSS on the fly and see how it affects a page. I removed the font-family and they all lined up except for street, which was tabbed over one extra increment.

There's also "view -> page style -> no style" to turn off the style sheet, which (for future situations) will show you if it's the style sheet or not that's causing the problem. The Edit CSS part of the web toolbar though is really cool.

You should search bugzilla to see if you can find anything on this bug in Firefox. If you can't find anything, set up a minimal test case.

Then, file a bug report and attach the test case to it.

That's if you want to see the problem fixed. :)

You can also ask in the bugs sections at http://forums.mozillazine.org/

As mentioned previously, it is not a firefox issue. The problem is that the <pre> is set to use arial for its font in the css, and arial isnt a fixed-width font. To get things to line up like they are wanting, they will have to use a fix-width font. Firefox is working properly in this case.

^^

Yes, you are correct. It's not a bug.

I thought the problem was a bug with processing the font-family property, but I see if you use monospace (the default I think), Firefox behaves. The tabs in the pre element do render differently among browsers (there are tabs in the source). If you use arial and line things up with just spaces, it should look better, but it's just causing you a headache. Plus it'll break when zooming.
