I was just wondering if anyone knows of somewhere i can buy pre built dvd drives with windows and leds in them?

I don't think you will find much in pc drives since the drive is hidden much more than an xbox drive.

Its actually rather easy to do yourself.

You get the drive and remove the cover exactly as the Xbox mod shows. Cut accordingly, typically avoidnig the removal of any screw holes so you can put it back on just as it came.

Then, get a thin sheet of plexi/lexan and glue or rivet it to the outer shell.

Done :)

If its in a PC you don't need any soldering to get the LED running, just buy a kit that hooks right up to one of your extra PSU cables of whatever type. Usually a 4 pin

I was wondering that.. it might work in a transparent acrylic case. In pretty much anything else you wouldn't see the top of the DVD drive.

You would have to swap the piece from the top that holds the CD down when it spins, which might be tough in a all acrylic casting, I would assume it would have to be perfect for it to work/spin properly, but I could be wrong.
