prank phone calls on computer

ok...

i know someone that wants to make some prank phone calls using a computer and a program like skype..

so he wants to click on one of those soundboard things that people make with quotes from movies.. if you know what i am talking about.. and have that play directly into his internet phone program... i am trying to tell him that it won't work.. maybe he could get a 3.5 mm jack m/m cable and loop his mic input to his line out and adjust the volumes...

he doesn't even want to do that.. is there a way to do this without a microphone or male to male cable?

i thought that maybe i could go to contol panel and change the default recording device to wav our or something.. but taht doesn't seem possible..

so that's all...

any suggestions...
 
it should be possible by making the recording source "wave" or "mix" instead of mic, in his sound options

then he'd just want to play the sound file he want the other guy to hear, and what will come out will be whatever his soundcard processes..
 
he found a website that explained it in detail...

all you have to do is go to the sound mixer.. then go to properties.. then click "recording" and make sure that "stereo mix" is selected... then you click ok.. select the stereo mix slider and that becomes the recording device...
