Praetorian or Aurora?

I am building a new system and have narrowed my case decision down to two:

CoolerMaster Praetorian 730

Gigabyte Aurora

I had my mind set on the Praetorian (what a sweet looking case!), but then I realised that the two exhaust fans are 80mm and not 120mm! :(

One of my key goals is low noise output (I'll be using Zalmans on the CPU and GPU and using an Iclio 140mm PSU) and I am really concerned that the 80mm fans will be too loud.

Does anyone own the Praetorian? How loud are the fans?

Any comment or insight is welcome.
 
In the true interest of silence or a quiet PC computing experience, I would never use stock fans from any computer company.

Coolermaster fans aren't loud per say, but they aren't quiet either. If you want that, Nexus True Silent 80mm fan will fit the bill, especially if tonned down with a pwm system, or undervolted by any other means.
 
I almost always scrap stock fans too. As for the 2 cases, I like the Gigabyte Aurora better myself, but it is just an appearance thing.
 
The noise from the 80mm fans on my praetorian is basically my only dislike about the case. Setup was a breeze and obviously the aesthetics are top notch, but yeah, the case fans can get a bit noisy so if you can I'd grab quieter 80mm fans for the Praetorian or go with the Aurora.

Also, if you want a case that looks somewhat like the Praetorian, but has 2x120mm, you should check out the Lian Li PC-7B+ II. Had it been available when I built my computer, the guts of my rig would be in that chassis right now.

that lian-li only has 1 120mm fan in the front. the back one is still an 80mm fan.

...unless the pictures on newegg are wrong.

Odd, it's listed on the newegg site as having 2x120mm and on Lian Li's listing as well. My guess is that the picture is of the first iteration of the PC-7B+ which did have a 120mm intake and an 80mm exhaust.
 
Note the Praetorian I speak of is the new one. It has a cover on the front and looks significantly different from the old one.

Apologies. I assumed it was the older version (actually, I didn't know a new one had been released) so disregard my information.
 
definitely the aurora. the 3 120mm fans spin at less than 1000rpm and are silent. because of the way the drive cage is oriented, the chipset and vid cards do not get much, if any ventilation from the intake fan. you should replace this with a 2500 rpm fan, or a 3 speed like the antec. also get the case with the mesh, not the window.

Yep, I decided to go with the Aurora. The mesh side has always been a given...

Vanilla_Guerilla, am I correct in the fact that only the front of the case has the brushed texture and the rest is smooth?
 
gigabyte aurora....the new praetorian doesnt strike my fancy as well as the classic one did
 
The aurora looks much better and has better features. however:

Since you seem to like the praetorian style, may I recommend the Thermaltake Tsunami instead? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133132

it has 120mm fans which are quieter by nature, and much more full featured than the Praetorian (hard drive trays, screwless design, etc..)

I have the Tsunami, and the only complaint I have ever had is the front door panel is heavy aluminum, which is good, but the little piece of metal that keeps it closed isnt designed well, so it sometimes rattles and you have to push it back in.

other than that, great cooling, dust filters, and screwless design, + two 12mm fans and an 90mm side fan, great. ;)
