PPU or video card?

I have a first gen ageia PPU, is it worth keeping or would a cheap nvidia card work better?
 
Cheap NVIDIA card would work better, and NVIDIA has said that they are going to drop support for the old AGEIA PPU's in fact i think they already did with the newer drivers.

ok which card is best for this? I dont want to go overkill, just enough to have some decent headroom.
 
If you already have the PPU, why do you want to buy another GPU? Even Batman is playable using the PPU, I would just use what I already have instead of spending more money to play a few games that support PhysX.

i dont think the old PPU's work with the new hacks if you want to run it with an ATI card so in case he wants to upgrade in the future.

For now, the games that support PhysX can also run on the PPU using the hack, just like using an nVidia GPU for PhysX when an ATI GPU does the rendering. By the time a new game comes out, the GPU price will drop even more and he can get a faster card for the same money.

I played Batman on an Ageia PPU without a problem using the hack which you can find here:

I would go with a viderocard if I was you. My 8800gt does a better job than my standered physx card.
 
Nvidia cards use ageia technology since the 8000 series so you should just get a cheap videocard.
