So is it possible to set up users on a wireless network to connect to that wireless network as if they were dialing into it using PPPoE?

For example. Insead of searching for the wireless signal, finding it and connecting to, can a PPPoE connection be made and have them enter their user name and password to gain access to my network?

Basically what I'm looking to set up is what DSL companies have in place. Basically I'm wanting clients to log into me using a PPPoE connection.

Yes, it's possible. I do this on my home wireless network. I run the pppoe daemon on a linux router, denying all traffic forwarded from the wireless interface, but allowing forwarding on traffic from a ppp[x] interface, thus requiring users to login using PPPoE in order to pass traffic beyond the router.

Is this available for Windows? Also I'm running a D-Link Router, are there 3rd party firmwares that incorporate this in the firmware?

So this is what my boss wants, and I'm not even sure this is possible. If so I need some instructions on how to accomplish this. he wants (on our wireless network) anyone logging onto to basically log into with a PPPoE connection. Have a GUI screen pop up when trying to access our network then you'd have to enter a user name and password in order to be allowed on the network. The user name and password need to be something that we can create and modify for users.

I think I'm needing PPPoE, but we are running D-Link router. Is this possible?

For some reason he doesn't want it MAc filtered or WPA security set up, he just wants anything and everything denied, unless going through the PPPoE connection.

This is basically what he wants.

DD-WRT NoCatSplash sounds like exactly what you're talking about.
