PPI - Diminishing Returns?

At what point is an increase in PPI not worth the smaller screen / extra cost / etc?

A friend has a 140 ppi monitor, and a 440 ppi phone. He says he can't see much difference when comparing text, with the text at the same size and the devices at the same distance.


Is this your experience?

I ask, because I'm trying to decide if I should get the 4k 24", or wait for a decent 4k 28"

the smaller the screen and higher the resolution the better, that's my philosophy regarding screens all we need is proper Windows scaling and powerful GPUs.

windows doesn't handle high ppi screens very well even with the new scaling option in 8. i'd get the 28".

Entirely depends on the viewing distance...and if you know what to look for.

OP,Things liks font serifs look like shit unless you have a high-density monitor. It is why Windows changed the default Office font from serif to Calibri....because LCDs suck at serif fonts. Android and iOS aren't fair comparisons because all they ever render are gothic fonts.

I view at 33", my friend was at ~36"

I suppose at this distance, Arial and Calibri, etc. will also look very good.
