not sure if i am doing something worng or not but i installed the smp client yesterday and so far have gotten only 126 points

Did you make sure to set the -smp flag? That looks more like a classic client output. Also, your points will be low for a few days until you have 10 work units done for bonus points (assuming this is your first time folding)

Are you using the -smp flag in your configuration? Sounds like you have a single core WU...

EDIT: Guess I was slow on the trigger... ;)

Ensure that you are using the -smp flag and be aware that your first 10 WU will not get the SMP bonus. Which reminds me.. make sure you are using a passkey and after the first 10 units you should see a much higher PPD w/ the bonus.

i did use the flag, also this should be loading my cpu fairly heavily shouldnt it?

yeah your not using the flag or you have the flag in the wrong spot with the shortcut. are you using the normal client from F@H's site or are you using that gpu tracker program?

if you are using the normal client. make sure you have the 6.30 client. second make sure that when you put the -smp in the shortcut you put it in the target section AFTER the " not before it(have made this mistake a few times myself).

should look like this in the target line: "C:\Folding@home SMP\folding smp client.exe" -smp -forceasm -verbosity 9

last 2 flags are optional and not required.

i changed what u said i think i may have had it setup wrong before, how long should a WU take to complete

Depends on the WU, but you should probably have TPFs of 3:30 - 8 minutes (the 6701/2 projects will probably have the 8-10 minute TPF).

Also, this should stress your CPU to 100% load (maybe 99%) continuously.

depending on the WU anywhere between 9-17 hours give or take a couple hours depending on your overclock. if you want to keep track of that info grab HFM. theres a thread in this section about it google HFM.net and you should find it. if ya need help setting it up feel free to ask and we shall help.

if my cpu is between %15-50 then something is wrong correct

yep. what WU does it say you are running?

or better yet. copy the log file and put it in here using the[.code][./code] tags so we can see it.

showing the user ID doesnt matter. i mean what is some one going to do? use your passkey and cause a bunch of WU's to fail so you fall below 80% success rate? makes no difference.

but your definitely running the wrong WU. um id say delete your work folder and start the client again. see what WU it downloads. those are the uniprocessor WU's from what i can tell.

If I'm not mistaken you are currently running a non-smp wu. The next one you run should be an smp now that you have the flag correct. Don't delete the current one. Just let it finish and you'll get a smp wu next.

Yup, that is definately a uniprocessor classic work unit. That also explains why your total cpu utilization is so low, as it is using just a single core. Once you have correctly set the -smp flag, you'll need to start doing 10 work units before you qualify for the bonus. If you have not done so yet, you'll need to go get a passkey as these must be completed with your passkey.

Once you pick up a SMP work unit, all 6 cores will be at 100% utilization.

Welcome to the [H]orde!

Glad you got the SMP sorted out, I'd be interested to see what your average TPF's are with your setup now that you're on track.

has the wu finished yet? after the 10 wu bounus kick in you should be seeing 11k + ppd. a ot better than the 160 your seeing now.

every time i setup a new client it starts with a core78 the second one is always smp

i always install. setup, save config and close the client right away before it can connect to the server. then set the flags and start the client.
