PowerLeap has broken Intel's multi lock?

On the front page, there is a link to a Powerleap page that boasts a 3GHz CPU in a socket 423 board. But here's the hard part. ON A 400MHz BUS. It states a little furher down that the socket adapter automatically adjusts the CPU's voltage and multiplier.

IF this is true, then PowerLeap has something awesome on their hands.

We have a limited quantity of 3.0 GHz 400 MHz FSB P4s. These were made in a very small quantity by Intel®.

Hmmm...maybe I just misread then. I was under the assumption that you could drop ANY Wilamette/Northwood P4 into the adapter and it would do its magic stuff. Silly me.

Probably a special processor made for them (or Engineer Sample)...

but the question is.... are these unlocked chips that the adapter configures a 30x multiplier for 100 (400FSB) or a 23x multiplier for 133 (533FSB). I dont see 2 different chips for sale, just one 3GHz? Also I dont see any mention of HT enabled or not. These might be some good chips to buy. Unlocked P4 northwoods are kinda hard to come by. Sometimes they sell on E-bay for kinda expensive. But they are great for FSB testing (for reviewers,etc) or showing affects of FSB at the same CPU speed (changing multipliers).

At $350 its a little expensive for a 3Ghz, but an unlocked P4 and a seperate adapter if you could use it somewhere else its not too bad.

Someone buy one of these and tell me if its an unlocked chip!! If it is, I might get one b/c I know my mobo does 300FSB, so If I could get one of these and MAYBE overclock it to 4Ghz on a 300FSB, that would KICK ASS

im fairly confident that it is not an unlocked 3.0, like i said before its a FSB400 p4 with a 30x multiplier. it works with the pl-p4/n and all that thing does is convert socket 423 to socket 478. they package that converter with 3.06's also but i guess this product is for people that only have 400mhz as an option for fsb.

you did your math wrong, if you ran this chip at 300mhz fsb, you would be running it at 9ghz. my guess is youd be luck to hit 600FSB using even liquid nitro.
