Whats up everyone.. I have a little issue from time to time I'll be @ my computer and I hear one of my hard drives spin down like click off then it turns on again.. Here the catch.. I changed out both hard drives because I wasn't sure which one it was and put two brand new ones in.. The hard drives have the same problem I had both HD's on the same power rail for the longest time and never had an issue. I've switch rails I went as far as putting them on different rails and they do the samething..

When I upgraded my rig my power supply was the only thing that I didn't replaced didn't see a reason to never really gave me a problem and I didn't need a new one because it was fine voltage wise.. So.... What could it be? You guys think its a power supply because at this point I don't know what it could be I changed out the drives and same results so IDK looking for some help..:cool:
 
Anyone have any input? Been a few hours here and no one has posted anything..
 
Well, the hard drive spinning down could just be due to your OS' power management features turning off the drive after a period of inactivity. Go into your power settings, and set all the HD power saving features to leave the drives on at all times. Then see if it still happens.

That's not a bad idea I believe its set to never turn off anything but I could be wrong. Let me check it out and post an update.. Thanks!
 
I went home and checked the powering settings and everything was set to never.. I went to advanced setting and seen that the HD''s were set to shut off after 20minutes.. I didn't know that those would still apply when you tell the basic settings to never.. That was a first so I set it to never and now I didn't hear anything last night so I will keep an eye out to hear if it still does it.
