Powerful but quiet pump

Can anyone reccommend a pump which is powerful enough to pump cooling blocks on my CPU/GPU/NB/SB + 2 rads thats not going to be too loud?
 
What do you think of the XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir Pump? Im also thinking of getting the Thermochill PA120.3 radiator. Any comments please.
 
I'd spring for two loops with that many blocks.
Either dual MCP655 or MCP355+tops(not as reliable)

OK so something like (res-pump-cpu-rad-gpu-nb-sb-rad) is what I had in mind. What way do you reccommend the 2 loops run please as Im new to this?
 
No need for two loops. The only reason you'd want two loops is if you had a quad core + SLI setup, and even then the difference is only a few degrees (compared to the 80$ or so for a second pump, it's just not worth it).

I'd get the MCP655 with the rheostat, and a section of petra's "gel stuff". That will power through all of your crap, with ease, and let you turn down the pump to reduce noise. I've had one run 2 radiators, an 8800GTS FC block, a Dtek Fuzion, an MCW30, and one of MIPS's MOSFET blocks.

OK Im running a Q6600 QuadCore 2.4GHz. I have the GForce 8800GTS 320mb. I think your right about the 2 loops as I heard their more trouble than what their worth. Ive just purchased online the Thermochill PA120.3 and 3 Asaka amber series ultraquiet 120mm fans. Ive also purchased the XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir Pump which seems to have a prety good pump in it. For the CPU I bought the EK Supreme Universal CPU Waterblock - Plexi. I hope Ive made the right choice please let me know what you think. Im going to leave it at that for the minute just to get started and will later move onto the GPU and northbridge when I get settled. Let me know any comments please. Thanks.

The pump you chose has a delivery height of 1.8 Meters where the Laing D5 Vario (MCP655/Danger Den D5) has a height of 3.7 Meters. Your setup may work but I would have chosen the Fuzion for a multiple block setup.

Yeah, that might be true, but the reliability and performance of the MCP655 can't be matched by a db-1/CPX... let alone 2 of em :)

PS: I've already had my CPX replaced... 4 months into service. Could have been a fluke, yes, but still... I don't trust them.

OK thats true but Im gona stay clear of the NB & SB for the minute to see how all goes. If I decide to include them at a later stage can't I include a second pump too or is that not possible?
 
Lads my PSU has a heatsink which hangs off the unit via 2 copper pipes and is being cooled by the same fan as the CPU heatsink. If I remove the CPU heatsink and fan when I install the CPU waterblock what happens to the PSU? Will it suffer with no fan blowing on the heatsink? I also have 4 new 2GB ram chips eyed up as my next upgrade and they have their own copper heatsinks on them. Problem is my existing chips are now sitting in behind my PSU heatsink with only 1 or 2mm between the heatsink and modules. These new modules come out atleast 5-10mm further than excisting modules because of their built on heatsinks. These will have no chance of sitting in behind my PSU heatsink. What am I up against? Do I need a new PSU without the baggage or can I remove this heatsink from my excisting one. I can post a picture of this if you need.
 
Yes. I'd provide some sort of supplementary airflow for that PSU. Perhaps strap on a cheap 80mm fan, and undervolt it to 5v.
 
A single PA120.3 is great for what you have if you are using non-restrictive blocks and a good pump (MCP655). Regarding the PSU, most are fine with passive cooling if they are not under load. What brand/power is your PSU?

Channel Well Technology 550W. Ive got a 250mm side fan blowing into the case about 2" from the PSU heatsink. Might be enough do ya think? About the PA120.3 and restrictive block. Problem is Ive already bought an EK Supreme waterblock for the CPU which arrived today. Im told their a restrictive block. You think this might cause problems for me?

if you want best OC then take the nb&sb out off the loop for now . when you start running ln2 then you need a nb&sb loop . put a fan over your ram and nb . if you have a pa 120.3 your off to a good start . don't use a res ....simple ... use a fill port . run mcp655 (355 with top no real would change ) then rad (pa 120.3) then fuzion (best bang for the buck) then what ever you plan for your gpu (gpu is another matter i won't get into here ) . past this simple idea of a loop you can only get worse . unless sli or duo quad or tri-sli or something . goodluck
 
If you can, post your question in the Jonny Guru forums about survivability of your PSU without a proprietary fan. I have no experience with that type of PSU, but I would have no issues doing it myself if there was decent airflow directed at it in some way, or another.

As for restrictive block.. they do have a place. If you only have a couple waterblocks in your loop and a strong pump, they are good. But too many of them, or a weak pump and you could lose some efficientcy.
 
so you bought an extremely restrictive block with a very unpowerful pump? That doesn't make much sense. You should have purchased the MCP655, because you are going to get relatively bad performance for the money you "saved."

Yep. Couldn't agree more. With that pump, putting a NB and a SB block could really hurt your flow... Now, I know for a fact that flow rate isn't really that important, but that pump is *really* weak compared to something like the MCP655, so I wouldn't chance it. But as I said in another thread, there's no real harm in using a reservoir... Especially one like the Micro Reservoirs by swiftech.
 
OK guy's Ive had a look at the MCP655 pump and see where your coming from. The difference between this and the one I bought is massive. So Ive decided to buy one. The other pump was a mistake and I will learn from that. Now I have an idea I would like to run by ye that might save me the loss of the pump/res that Ive already bought. I like the idea of using a reservoir because of less maintinence because my PC is sitting in a home built workstation cabinet and is a bit annoying taking it in and out. It would be possible for me to use the pump/res that Ive already bought as just a res and use a MCP655 pump on my loop instead. But do you think this would be more trouble than what its worth? Also the loop system Ive already bought all use 3/8" barbs and hose but the MCP655 has 1/2" barbs. Is there anything I can do to make it fit?

Run 1/2 in. form the pump to the radiator.As for the reservior I can't find a picture of it that shows the inlet and outlet, I can't even tell if you can take it apart sooo... could you takes some pics and post them. If it comes apart easy I would remove the pump and use it a a reservior. Let us know.

I can't remove the pump but Ive just had another idea. I will use the MCP655 for my loop to cool the CPU and NB. I can then use the XSPC dual 750 bay reservoir pump for a seperate loop to my GPU full coverage block. Would this be overkill or a good idea?
