Preface: I'm still salty having just finished testing the paperweight PowerColor just sent me.

This thread is for two things, a written log of my experience with these clowns, and to serve as a warning.

In February I figured out an issue I had was due to a bad Vega 64, and started the RMA Process with PowerColor on the 18th of February.

They didn't process the receipt of my video card until 7 March, the day I called to check status.

Called again on March 21 where I was told they were testing my replacement card.

Called again on the 28th to see what the deal was. This time I was told they were waiting on replacement product from Taiwan.

Finally get notification of a replacement card being shipped March 31.

Received card today, April 6, and it's DOA. So 6 weeks of waiting for a paperweight. Anyone wanna bet I have to pay to ship this dead piece of shit back to them? Will update on Monday after I call them unless they reply to my email over the weekend.

My experience with powercolor was overall meh. I had a faulty 290x, Communication was terrible it felt like all RMA's were handled by 1 dude and you called his cellphone. First time i called it sounded like he was driving, a few days later around dinner time i swear i heard him with a plate and fork. at the end of like 3 or 4 weeks I got a 390x in return.

I fried my 7950, it was my fault, Powercolor processed my RMA in 1 week and sent me a new card. No issues, I guess its hit and miss.

Update time. Called them when they opened this morning, same dude that always answers the phone answered and apologized for the dead card, then said it would be a few days before he could email me a label to send this thing back to them. So cool of them to not make me pay to ship the card back. However I later got a reply to my email from Friday where they wanted me to try using IGP video and some other troubleshooting steps, and warned me that the cards only work in certain motherboards. They also stated the was tested with firestrike before shipping. I challenged this by asking what the s/n of the card they sent me was, and they couldn't produce one. To make things more interesting, the s/n of the card I received isn't even in their system for me to submit a second RMA ticket.

This required a second phone call where I gave them the s/n of the card, I heard some clacking of keys then I was asked to repeat the s/n and after the same dude as always said he'd do the rma ticket for me and I'd have a label tomorrow.

Wow, what a fucking hassle. Hopefully, you get your RMA shipping label, and then a working card sooner rather than later, at this point.

    Yeah, I hope so.

Tuesday update: card is on its way back to them. What I find amusing is they say to securely package the card well to avoid damage. Their card came to me in the retail box sans the flashy retail outer box. Just the inner brown box with some tape and a label.

This is the kinda crap I was afraid of when I went with PolorColor for my pair of VEGA 56s. Sadly they were the only cards I could find in stock anywhere, so I rolled the dice on them. I got lucky in that both cards are great samples clock speed wise, but I am under no illusion that I will have any warranty support if something goes wrong. I made sure to use a CC that has a great warranty so I can just submit to them if one of them dies.

Wow, I remember having an issue with a PowerColor 390. Sent it in for RMA and they sent back a brand new Red Devil RX580 which turned out to be a dud in the ocing dept. Turnaround time was 3 weeks. Never bought another PowerColor card after that.

Gotta keep hammering away with the phonecalls to get anywhere with them.

I did buy it with a CC with a great warranty service, but that's just good for the purchase price of the card. I bought this Vega 64 from the egg for $467. That doesn't help given current prices.

I totally understand that viewpoint... Thankfully used ones have come way down...I'm watching 3 56s (need ref pcb so I can water cool) and they seem to sell between 500-550 shipped.

My pair of 56s are making me $6.75 a day mining Monero/Dero but I'm in it for the long haul. I am strongly considering selling my pair of XfX GTR Black 580s and just pick up a 3rd Vega. It would let me stand down a second system (saving 125-150W from the platform) and 120W from the card itself since summer is coming.

Keep us posted on your RMA.

New update. Called today because the RMA tracking process they use still shows as step 1, and that the card was verified to be within warranty. Told the same guy that's always on the other end of the phone that tracking showed the card having been delivered Friday. He told me that he'll test the card today, and in two weeks from today I'll have a tracking number for the replacement card. So it would seem that if you want that two week turnaround to be even close to accurate, call them on it, often.

I missed this thread because its in the sub forum... I'm on a timeline much like yours only emailed twice so far vs calling in. You calling in seems to have kept yours moving along. I'm still waiting for my replacement card. They said yesterday that i should have a tracking number by the end of the week. I'm in Michigan so I expect the delivery to take about a week. I don't understand how a company can suck this badly and still exist.

Time for another update. Called again because that seems to be the only way to move the RMA process along. They're 'testing' my replacement card, and assured me I'll have a tracking number by the end of next week. I said I hope this one actually gets tested and survives, since your last replacement was DOA. The dude said he'll do his best. Very confidence inspiring.

Second update! They emailed me today asking if I'd be okay with a Red Devil Vega 64. I said yes since it means less waiting.

That's pretty cool, but if it were me I would be really in a bind since I watercool all my GPUs and there aren't any blocks for the non reference cards.

At this point I'll probably just sell the card that comes back after I'm certain its not a dead card.

So this should be one of the last updates. Per our last conversation I was expecting a card on Saturday or Monday. What I got was an email with a tracking number that didn't work Friday afternoon. They didn't answer the phone when I called that day either. On Monday the non working tracking number worked, and instead of overnight, I got FedEx ground. Card three gets here tomorrow.

FedEx delivered the card a day early, cool. Here's a picture of the back of the card I received. Guess they don't bother replacing these when they work on them/redistribute them.

Watch this one be a dud, and they deny the next warranty claim because the sticker is broken.

Oh I did, they got multiple pictures, including one that notes the time of the picture and the time of delivery.

Yes and no, the case is often miss quoted and if the repairs are offered freely, the sticker can be used to prove violation of their terms of service.

I wouldn't let Powercolor's shitty service put you off AMD cards all together. You will find plenty of companies with horrible RMA service that sell Nvidia cards as well (ASUS primarily).

The higher power draw, noise and worse performance did that. Hopefully they put a Ryzen like card out in the future. Till then I'll be gaming on my 1080ti.
