Hey ladies and gentlemen,

I am about to buy a PC HD7970 VortexII for a friend and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this card. I read the reviews at the Egg and it seems to be okay, but I only found two reviews: at TweakTown and Fudzilla. From those two reviews, I learned you could adjust the fans' height and that it doesn't get too hot or loud.

To any owners are out there: is it worth it?

I rma'd mine immediatly after it came in the mail.The card would artifact in metro and the witcher 2 at stock clocks. On the other hand the cooler worked really well felt a lot quieter than my lightning so hopefully now they have better quality chips. My advice would be to go with the 7970 vapor x which has the same cooler as the toxic but is a lot more affordable(does not use reference outputs). Also you might want to check out the gigabyte windforce for the same price.(uses reference outputs)
 
as said above get the Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X or Gigabyte HD 7970 Windforce.

If you choose Gigabyte get the cheaper card. these cards easily clock to 1125 - 1150 Mhz at stock voltage and even higher with voltage tweaking.

IMO the Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X is the pick . uses the same cooler as the Sapphire HD 7970 TOXIC. Sapphire makes the best Radeon cards.

Usually low asic means it clocks to 1125-1170 with a vcore of 1.17. Higher asic and lower Vcore cards most of the time wont reach even 1100. How do i know? Ive tested so many of them. With a voltage tweak id say 50 percent of them are able to reach 1200mhz game stable.

Ghz editions are on a totally different category though, id say all of them reach +1125 at stock voltage.

One dc2t card with an asic of 80 and vcore 1.112 clocked to 1125 but it was voltage locked so could not test max oc.

Why would you say that 1125 Mhz is not achievable on stock voltage. almost every HD 7970 (1 Ghz) card hardocp tested easily did 1125 Mhz at stock voltage.

Maybe because ive seen it with my own eyes? Do you realize those press cards are usually the golden ones?
