After spending a little quality time with the PowerColor Devil HD7870 2GB, the crew at PureOverclock seem rather impressed with the card, giving it a "great hardware" award.

But the Devil HD 7870 2GB is a mid-range card, coming with an attractive price tag of $260. It’s a bit unusual to see a custom cooler, improved power design, and attention to detail on such a modestly priced card, but we certainly approve of the move by PowerColor; better for consumers, we say.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that the same price as a 760? And doesn't the 760 wipe the floor with a 7870? I am not a fanboy, I like and, but their cards seem to be outgunned at the current price lvls thanks to nvidias current releases.

IDK why that card is priced so high but most of the 7870s I've been seeing lately are pretty cheap, I picked up a 7870 le for 190 the other day. I guess because this is a "new" model they are pricing it higher than the other but in reality it makes no sense at all because there is no real increase in performance.

$260 is a modestly priced card? I don't buy AMD video cards anymore, because I've always felt their drivers we're crap, and this aint helping.

No more bundles (at least last I checked) make this card is comparatively overpriced. Yes it's a Tahiti, but this card should really be $200 to be competitive. The Cheaper GTX 760 wipes the floor with it, and the GTX660 runs about even with it. You do have overclocking, and I got my Tahiti-Based 7870 to 1250Mhz on the core, and runs real nice, but considering that even with my Tahiti 7870 being overclocked, I feel a GTX760 at stock speeds would crush it.

Without the Bundles, AMD should really Price their cards:

7970Ghz - $330
7970 - $300
7950 Boost - $250
7950 - $220
7930/7890 - $200(the card reviewed)
7870 - $170 - (Pitcarin based)
7850 - $150

Lol. Their single card pricing has been fantastic as of late. My 7950 is outperforming 770s when overclocked to 1215mhz core and it cost 60 euro less 8 MONTH AGO. Tell me that ain't vaslue...

I don't know why anyone would have waited this long to buy a card in this price range as the HD7950 has been sold for $269 with 4 free games months ago.. 760GTX is no better value then that HD7870 to someone that bought the AMD package.

Just an FYI, this card is not based on the Tahiti LE. Though it should be for the price they are charging. Just goes to show [H] crew was correct when stating 7870 XT variant cards would not be around for long.
IMO Powercolor should have scooped up a ton of Tahiti LE chips and made a real screamer for the Devil cards. As it stands, this card is simply overpriced.
As for the review, I don't know why they keep stating the Devil card is a "handcuffed" & "detuned" version of the 7950 because it's not. It is its own card based on its own architecture. Again I have nothing against the card besides its price.
Also it does look like the only Never Settle bundles remaining are for the AMD 7900 series.

It's a custom card. Those complaining about AMD's pricing, AMD isn't setting the price for it. Powercolor is and it likely has to do with the cost of the cooler and PCB. If you don't think it's worth the premium for the improvements, that's fine. Some people though see the value and are willing to pay extra for it. It's a YMMV situation.
