Power-wires and hd-led changed

The power-wires to the drives in the bottom bay of my pc70 had become way too cluttered so something needed to be done. One of my friends had raided some old IBM systems (they're pretty hard to get here in Denmark) and gave me some right-angle molex-connectors from them. So I made a powercable for the drives from an old splitter-cable so it would fit exactly and no loose wire left dangling.

My crappy cam strikes again, but the pics should hint at how it looks. Have the lost the "before" pic so only have pics of the end-result, but it shouldn't be too hard to imagine molex-splitter cables and such needed to power 6 drives.

The sleaved wires that can can be seen left in the image is the power from the gfx-card running to power the drives also and front-usb ports to the mobo.

Yes, two drives seem to be missing power connectors, but they're sata-drives so the power sits on the opposite side, they do get power from the chain.

While I was at it I decided to change the hd-led of my case to white/clear instead of red as all cases seem to have blue/red nowadays :-\

And it's the begginning of a theme I plan to continue when I get time to mod the case some more :D

how exactly did you replace the red LED light? which LED etc.. i wanna get rid of it as well =D. also, can this be done with fan controlling devices too?

It can be done w/ any thing with a led on it most require soldnering or just bending and pulling out,

yes but there are so many types of LEDs i go crazy. like 3v / 5v? those kind of specifics, but i definitely dig the white.

The leds used for cases are standard 3.3v Usually buy them from my local electronics store. Before I got my LL I had a case with an actryllic front, connected to 3v leds to power, had them where the leds normally sit, and two for hd placed in some air-intake holes in the bottom. The mobo easily powered all of them and the front of the case was glowing nicely.
On LiLi cases it's very simple to change them, they sit in a socket so you just need to pop the old one out, cut it from the wire to the mobo and then solder a new one on. I use terminal strips as it's much easier to change the led later on as you don't have to desolder it, and them being ugly doens't matter as they're hidden.

It should be exactly the same procedure with fan-controllers, I'm pretty sure they use 3v too. Plan to change the red/blue two-color leds of my Zalman fanbus with white/blue when I find some, they're rather rare here.

I have 9 hd's inside the case and two more external in usb-cases, 11 hd's total for 1.4Tb space (see sig for details).

Maybe this would be a good place to ask about something I wanted to do....
My case has a power LED and 3 additional LEDs, 1 of course is HDD activity. The other 2 are unused right now but I'd like to hook them to my other 2 HDDs. But how? Is there a spot on the MOBO to connect to? (P4C800E)

Not as far as I know and can see in the manual (always a good place to start ;) ). So you cannot get it if you use the controller(s) on the mobo
It must be in the case mostly for pci-addon controllers as those often have a place to connect activity leds to, many mobos with more than one controller do not have more than for the primary controller.
