i have had trouble getting my computer started a couple of times in the last few weeks. i go to push the power button and it lights up for a second then dies.

i have found all i need to do is disconnect the powersupply from the mb and and plug it in again and the computer will boot up just fine.

is my psu going down hill? i haven't really moved the case in a long aside from general cleaning. so i don't think its getting shorted out...

any ideas?

had the same problem on another system I built. We ended up just changing the power supply out and it fixed the problem.
As for your case cant say for sure. By chance do you got another PSU with a higher wattage rating you could test with?

friend of mine had the same problem. he replaced the powersupply and everything was ok after.

blah - not what i wanted to hear, but maybe it will give me an excuse to just buy a whole new case...

If youve got a large PSU test it...if you know someone that has a larger PSU borrow it.

yeah i don't know anyone with a larger psu. i am not sure the wattage would matter since i have ran this config for almost two years without a problem.

theres your problem, generic PSUs are NOT the thing to use. you can get a damn nice Antec 412 watt for < $40 on ebay if you look.

the psu i have is an antec 300W. i hate to say it but most high watt psu aren't needed. esp for me. they just make my energy bill go up.

uh

watts is a theoretical output...its not definate. it wont overpower your computer not draw more power than youre actually using. if youre using only 100 watts you wont draw more from the wall with a 250watt psu vs a 150 watt PSU...

High watt units are nice because you never know what your system's future demands will be. Evidently it's happened to you already. Be prepared nextime and get something a tad stronger than a 300w unit.
