I'm buying an AMD 3800+, an nVidia 7600 GT, 1 gig ram, a SATA harddrive, among the other regular components. Would a standard 420W that comes with a case be enough to power all this? If not, would a 500W be? Keep in mind I know a power supply is very important because if one can't power the computer, it's pretty much fried, but it's either a cheap power supply or no computer at all
The computer will be mainly used for gaming, CS:S and FEAR to be specific. I won't be really overclocking it, though.

quality > quantity. A quality supply will do that no problem. Scroll down to the power supply forum to see what's hot and what's not.

Sorry for posting int he wrong section, didn't see the PSU section. Anyhow, this is the case+PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811144026
I noticed the "avoid list" had Aspire on it, not a good sign =/
Another thing I noticed is that you need a more powerful PSU than usual for a DFI lanparty mobo (which I'm getting) for some reason.. sigh.. looks like a fried CPU for lunch or me staying with a 4 year old emachines

I just got that case X-Dreamer II about 2 weeks ago. I really like its appearance. The first thing I did was to take that 420w PS out and replace it with my old 350w Antec, which is more than 5 years old.. The antec has a better quality and heavier than that cheap Aspire PS. with only $50 total Case & Power Supply, what do you expect from that power supply?

they really have to cut cost alot to have that low price: cheap PS and very very thin metal, which is a bad thing but also a good thin because it is so light to cary.

Aspire = :(

Don't waste your money. A cheap but good psu that would have no problems with your rig would be the MASSCOOL Nextherm 460.

Already ordered :( my dad was pushing me, he's really impatient. Anyway, so would it be safe to connect it and use it for about a month or two until I can get a decent PS?

BTW, what if that PSU is a bad one, could it hurt the system in a normal situation? Like if it can't handle the pressure and shuts itself down or something, it won't really fry the CPU or anything, right?

Edit: Did some research and it seems the case and PSU are perfectly fine and found to be very stable with a machine very similar to mine: http://www.guru3d.com/article/content/145/5/

I'm still just wondering how it'll do with gaming... damn money
