Better power supply?
I'm ordering this system next month
Msi k8t neo2-f
athlon 64 3000
Kingston dual channel kit 512mbx2 pc-3200
Bfg 6800oc
Western digital 80gb 7200rpm sata hard drive
I have a cd rom, cd writer, floppy drive, and 5 fans.

This is the power supply that came in the case I bought. ps
(If you scroll down the page it shows the ps)

Do I need two upgrade the ps to run my system? What about the rails??

Is the wattage to low or what? It's a 420 watt ps. Explain why it won't work.

WATTAGE ISN'T EVERYTHING.

Hell... It's hardly ANYTHING.

That power supply only has 15A on the 12V rail.

That's not good for any "current" configuration.

I've got 300 and 350W power supplies that would be more suitable, simply because it has more amperage available on the 12V rail and less on the 5V.

35A on the 5V and 28A on the 3.3V make it good for an old school Socket A or Socket 370, though. ;)

That should handle the system fine, but for the money, you can do better. The power supply that came with your case would most likely work also, although it is preferable to go with a higher quality supply. Occasionally, eWiz has the Fortron 500 Watt (460 Watt) Blue Storm for ~ $72 Shipped if going through pricewatch, that would be the best in the price range. I was actually thinking of getting that over my Seasonic S12 500 Watt, but in the end I wanted to try out the Seasonic.

The difference being that Fortron I linked, and the Seasonic Josanai linked are ATX2.0 supply versus the Antec which is an ATX 1.3. No dual 12v rails

Got to keep in mind that some people just like single 12V rails, though. ;)

Ohhhh....but two has got to better than one! Kind of like 64 is better than 32 becasue it is like twice the size ;)

Ok I think I'm going to buy this one PS

If I'm reading the specs right it has 26amps on the 12volt rail. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
