Hi guys,
I have had this dilemma for a long time now and I'm sure many of you were thinking about this as well. There are many nice compact cases like Lian Li PC-Q03, and what I like to know if there is any way to mount a couple of hard drives where the power supply would go. Some kind a box attachment which mounts instead of the power supply. Is there anything like that? This would be great for people using pico -PSU or like in my case a thin mini-ITX like Intel DQ77KB. This would make a case like this much more useful for like a NAS.
 
Probably there is nothing available off the shelf.

But for a low cost it's something you can make yourself. At least if you already have a drill that can make 3mm and 4mm holes. A sheet of aluminium can be bent very easily, a hand saw is cheap.

After extensive searching I found a case that I really like which will not have the gaping PS hole in the back so no modding. This Rosewill Legacy V6 can hold 4 3.5" HDDs and the power supply is at the front of the case which is awesome in a very, very small footprint. It also has a nice 140 mm fan at the back, I love it, (IMO overall better and smaller than the CM Elite 110). I won't be using the PSU since I'm running thin mini-ITX DQ77KB which can drive the 4 HDDS. I'm running a Xeon E3-1260L Quad Core + Hyper-threading CPU 2.4GHz 45 watts on it which I picked up from ebay for $120. Your mesh bracket in the picture is same concept in this case as well. One can also run a SFX PSU in this and still have a room for a decent CPU cooler, I'm using the Noctua NH-L9I.
