ok i just got a new power supply (vantec 520 watt :D) and anyways i was wanting to know what some of the plugs that are on it go to.... the 4 pin sqaure plug fit on the monther board and the 24 pin connecter connected to the motherboard... the flat 4 pin cables hooked to my dvd burner and 2 harddrives and the smaller flat connector (bigger than a fan connecter) connected to the harddrive. But ther are two plugs that are baffling me because besides these two the rest are for more cd roms and harddrives and a drives... one looks like the 4 pin connector that hooks to the motherboard but instead it has 8 pins on it and this last connector is flat and white and has 6 pins on it and has AUX on the back of the connector... what do these go to... i though maybe the 8 pin one was for the new hookup on the new pci-e graphics cards but i thought that was only 6..... i'm baffled as to what they go too.

The 8-pin connector is for the Xeon dual Processor Motherboards, and the Aux connector is not used anymore, except if you have special server boards or other kinds that will support it.

as pointed out above the 6 pin is an older +12V aux (now addressed by the 2x2 4pin or 2x4 8 pin)

for future reference (in the unlikely event someone employs the search feature and actually finds this)

other 6 pin connectors are for aux power would be:
AGP Pro (2 orange, 2 black, 2 yellow in a 2x3 config)
and PCI-Express class Video Card auxillary power connector (2x3)

basically that supply is both ATX12V v2.0 and EPS12V compatible
(but not compliant as it lacks dual or tri +12V rails as called for by the respective specs)

and more than just Xeons employ EPS12V
as an Opteron owner I take exception with that :p

EPS12V is a server class spec, that was developed by Intel
Server System Infrastructure (SSI)

Huh? AUX has (2) +5v lines, (1) +3.3v line, and 3 grounds!
