power supply opinion please

My computer generally runs from 150 watts at idle to about 250 watts at load. My specs are in the sig. I was wondering if there is a powersupply "sweet spot" (lest power draw, best power deliverance) I should be thinking about. Any opinions?

To get the best efficiency out of a PSU, you'll want to be between 30-70% of the max load of the PSU.


150W is 30% of 500W
250W is 50% of 500W

150W is 33% of 450W
250W is 56% of 450W

For your situation, a good 450W-550W would be best from a noise and efficiency standpoint, I recommend Corsair, of course, but then again I'm biased.

Thank you for the info. I am also considering trying Corsair power supplies. I know they perform well.
