Got an Ultra X3 1600w and the thing makes a high pitches noise when doing any kind of 3d rendering (ie Games). Someone told me this is just the PSU cycling from high to low power output. Can anyone confirm this?

It may not be bad for the PSU but that depend what is causing the high pitch noise and why.
It could indicate potential component failure.

I'd RMA it to be safe.

I highly doubt that your computer is drawing anywhere near 1600W, so it's really just on low power output the whole time anyways. I'd RMA it.

Yes. Its not very loud. in fact, its barely audible. I just happen to notice it as a sound mixer :p

Well it could be the transformer like in the SilverStones that some people can here or a coil that didn't get varnished completely. Either way other than being a bit annoying it is harmless. You could contact Ultra and try and swap it for another one but if it is the transformer it will most likely happen again. I never noticed the issue with the review units though......but hearing/sound are subjective so you could just have better ears than I do.

Okay. Thats what I figured. This is the first machine that I have silent fans and Water cooling, so im actually used to a lot of Fan noise. This may be why I'm noticing it now.

ALSO. It didnt do this when I had a single 7800GTX. I just installed 2 8800GTX's and now it is doing this.
