I was in the process of getting the Fortron Blue Storm PSU, i started seeing some bad reviews about it and thought maybe i should have a backup plan. I've heard good stuff about the Fortron blue storm, how reliable is the 500w compared to the 400w? I'm not sure if anyone knows if it's the 400w or the 500w that has been giving out bad results. I wanted to look around in the same area for a power supply, and wanted to use some good name brands. How would the following PSUs work with my system?

Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz HT
40gb 7200rpm HD
Asus p4p800s-x
256mb pc3200 RAM ( upgrading to 512mb pc3200 ram within the month )
ATI Radeon 9800xt or Nvidia 6600GT or Nvidia 6800GT series card ( i'm still in the process of upgrading that )
Cooler Master case with 2 case fans

I want to make sure i get enough power supply for the video card, it will be 1 of the 3 that i get, just making sure i'm getting the right one. I'm looking into getting the Radeon cause of HL2 benchmarks look great. I had been recommended that i get the Fortron 500w blue storm, but i'm hearing about too many people saying the blue storm isn't holding up. Could you guys recommend me a name brand for a psu that i can trust. I'm staying away from the Antec truepower series, thanks for your feedback guys.

Sparkle 460W http://www.newegg.com/app/viewprodu...7&CMP=OTC-pr1c3watch&ATT=Power+Supply+for+Cas

Enermax Noisetaker 470W http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=ps-475pve&c=pw

That Sparkle would work but you'd likely have little room for upgrades, power-wise.
The list below is with the 6800GT.

Best I could do with the info you gave:
3.3V line MAX
2.5A or above

5V line MAX
5.1A or above : **very important

12V line MAX
15.3A or above : **very important

3.3 + 5V combined MAX
34.3W or above : *important

3.3 + 5 + 12V combined MAX
219.1W or above

total output
229.1W or above

I had always heard good things about the sparkle psu, what psu are you running? How do i calculate all those numbers out. I know i'd be mad as all hell to research psus and the one i decide to get craps out on me. I dont plan on overclocking at all though, and i thought about going with 500W or above which i'm sure would be pretty smart. I'll look around and see if i can find more reviews on the blue storm, see what goes on there.

I'm thinking the psu that people are having problems with is the 400w fortron. I dont seem to be finding any problems with the 500w 2.0v one, the blue storm people seem to be praising..

You'd barely have enough amps on the 12v rail with the 470 noisetaker.

okay, so you have the computer i have for example, Which PSU would you choose? I dont plan on OCing it at all, would you go with the noisetakers you posted, or the fortron 500w, or what?
