Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO
CPU: i5 2500k
Video card: Nvidia GTX 580
RAM: 8GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz CL9
HDD: one 1TB WD Green, two WD 6400AAKS

How much power do I need? I'd rather stick with Corsair.

Corsair 750tx v2

Or 750ax if u want to spend a lil more for something modular

If you don't plan to SLI, 650 TX V2. If you want to SLI down the road, a 750 watt will do.

Really? 750w? That's all I need? When people buy those 1000w power supplies, what do they have, 4 video cards or something ?

Does OCing matter in picking a power supply?

Two possible reasons, larger overhead and using the same psu for the next upgrade

Overclocking matters to the extent of ~25-35 watts per component you are overclocking.

People who buy 1000 watt power supplies are indeed running 3-4 graphics cards, or they just want to have a large power supply, and think that their system pulls more wattage than it actually does. You would be fine running on a good quality 500 watt power supply, but Corsair only has somewhat decent models below 650 watts.

Are you trying to market for Sentey or something? There's absolutely no reason for OP to get a 850 watt unless he plans to SLI. And even then, he can run on a 750 watt which would cost him ~$100 vs $150 of that sentey. And OP specifically stated that he wanted Corsair.

my appoligies for making a suggestion. Are you markerting for Corsair? That unit for that price its a bargain. Its a very good unit. Unless you can show me a Gold rated psu for that price or a psu better than that one for that price.

How about reading this:

OP SPECIFICALLY WANTED CORSAIR. CAN'T YOU FREAKING READ!!???

And I was able to get a 1000w Sparkle Gold rated power supply for $160 shipped from Microcenter. That is a bargain. That Sentey, not so much.
