Hello guys. I just bought myself an ASrock 775Dual with E6300. I am using some of the old parts from my current rig (in the sig) which includes the Antec Smartpower 2.0 500watt. Later on I want to o/c the E6300 and I want to know if this power supply is capable. For the o/c I am going to purchase the G.Skill DDR-800 and probably the Scythe Infinity. Thanks for reading ;)

I was using antec cases for a while with the 450 smart power and ive had 3 come back to me to replace the psu.

In electronics in general, over half of your failures are related to the power supply.

I always advocate purchasing a very high quality PSU. Given the problems we've seen with the PSU you have, I'd recommend purchasing the best quality PSU you can afford.

Damn. I thought this Antec was a quality PSU. It was an upgrade from an Aspire 450Watt which I been told is unreliable. I been looking at some of the Corsair and OCZ PSUs. Both are around $100 and offer 500+ Watt ratings. Does anyone have a recommendation for those companies and which PSU model should I get?

Corsair HX520 is probably your best bet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817139001

It's a bit overkill for the rig in your sig but should be somewhat futureproof (provided you don't plan on doing any uber-SLI). :p

Right on JaYp146

IMO, four of the best power supply mfgs out there, in order:

Sparkle
Silverstone
Corsair
PC P&C

I threw Sparkle in there based on my experiences taking one apart and later using it. Nice beefy chassis for the PSU, good internal components, well thought-out design, and well-regulated voltage output.

Thing is, Corsair is made by Seasonic, Silverstone is usually enhance or etasis, and sparkle, while beefy, doesn't stand up to top quality server grade psu's.

Maybe PCP&C, Zippy, Etasis, Enhance, Seasonic, Seventeam, Andyson,

Any more I just take the price hit and order PC P&C

The only other PSU I'd probably consider would be Sun for a redundant unit

Hello.. sorry for the bump, but will the Crosair's fit in a P180 fine? I ask this because it looks like I will need to change the PSU soon. The damn Antec started making the infamous whinning sound of doom, which really destroys the acoustics of the quiet case. I bought the "Smartpower 2.0" in March 2006 off zipzoomfly... I got it cheap... $48 after rebate/shipped.

the HX has long cables suited for the P180 and TJ07. And possibly the Lian Li A10.
