Hi I was thinking about getting the Antec 900, but I was worried about the position of the power supply. I run crossfire and I was worried that if I got a power supply that has a bottom fan that the position in this case would effect the video cards.

do you mean the fan in the PSU? those are oriented as exhaust fans, so there won't be any hot air blowing on your graphics card. i've got a 900 with a thermaltake toughpower 700W. it has a 140mm topside fan that sucks out hot air created by the graphics card.

it's actually a nice layout IMO. if your use a PSU with lighting, it'll cast some of its light onto your VGA.

the ocz gamestream power supplies work great and they even have a blue led fan so it matches.

I'll second that. I have the 700W in my Antec 900. Though the 8? pin motherboard power cable is unfortunately a bit short for boards that have the plug near the top, so it just sits across everything in the case. Purely aesthetic. Some have mentioned this PSU has some ripple when pushed near its limit, though I have not run into any problems with it

i have seen mods where people have cut a hole in the bottom of the case for the fan, so that they can run the cables on the other side, cos thats what your worried about isn't it?

i would say that any PSU should be fine in a 900, even with a crossfire setup.

i have a similar issue, but i'm planning to cut and solder my power wires to custom lengths anyway. if i ever get around to it, ha.

no no no no NO NO FREAKING NO!

The OCZ GameXtreme PSUs are rebadged FSP Epsilon units, and have a design flaw which causes a large amount of ripple on the 12v rails. (Think "Dirty Power") The more you load the PSU, the higher the ripple gets. The "Dirty Power" the FSP unit provides will shorten the lifespan of the power regulation circuitry in your components, especially the motherboard and video card.

Bad, bad idea to be recommending these units to others. :(

FSP normally make very good solid units, it's just the Epsilon platform has a design flaw.

What about the cable length of the 24 pin power connector?

Besides the 4 or 8 pin EPS cables being short, I've heard a lot of PSU's 24 pin wire won't reach either... depending on the motherboard.

I have 2 ABS Tagan 700 watt power supplies, the one in my sig. and one in the downstairs computer inside a antec 900. The 20+4 pin reaches the mother board perfectly. If your planning to buy a ABS tagan just PM me and I will give you a $10 discount coupon code for one.

PC Power & Computing models all have plenty long cables and work great. I use the 750 Quad which is virtually silent. Have also used several 580 Hipers in this case. They don't have the best reviews at a couple of sites but we have several and all have been excellent and inaudable also.

I run a corsair 520hx flipped over at the bottom of my 900 and have no issues. I run SLI and it kind of helps cool as it pulls heat out of the lower card. The only problem i have is the 4 pin has to go under the video cards and over the motherboard as its not long enough to be routed cleanly.

yep, thats exactly what i do... its the gray cable under the graphics card...

if you do have problems, you could always just use extenders, they are relatively inexpensive and everything...

The OCZ GameXstream works wonders too in that case, thats what my rig used to be in before i needed more room for components, not to mention the blue led fan flows nicely with the pre-existing color scheme. and the 4/8 pin has enough slack to make it around duece 8800's, the 20/24 pin has enough length as well

It was a tight fit, but I was able to install a Antec 1000 PS with two 3870x2's.

I have no problem with cooling.

I use a Corsair HX520, flipped right side up. All power connectors reach their desination just fine.

After this picture was taken, I have ran the 24pin power cable behind the motherboard tray. I do not want any visible cables, which gives more attention to the hardware. I have replaced the NB with a Thermalright HR-05 SLI/IFX as well.
