Hey all,
I just built a new system last year with a 450W power supply (came with the case). Since I built the system I've had to add an additional hard drive and now I'm slightly worried that the PSU I have may not be enough. I haven't had any particular reason to suspect this, I just worry about these things.
Currently I have two DVD-RW drives, a Gigabyte motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ dual-core processor, an NVidia GeForce 7600 GT video card, two 1 GB sticks of RAM, two SATA hard drives and one IDE hard drive, a ZIP drive, and a floppy drive, as well as one PCI video capture card. I've used a couple of those online PSU calculators and they seem to suggest that I only need around 380W or so, but I don't know if I really trust those things. So I'm checking here to get an expert opinion. Should I spend some cash and upgrade the PSU? If so, what wattage would you recommend?
Thanks in advance,
Doug
