Power Supply Decision - Help!

Hi, I am building a new computer, because my old one went kaput. I used to have an AMD FX-53 on an Abit AV8 board with a via chipset with a Sapphire X800 XT, that had problems from day 1 with hard drive deaths, blue screens, random reboots. I bought a new motherboard and video card. I got a DFI Lanparty UT CFX3200-DR Socket 939 ATI CrossFire Radeon XPRESS 3200 mobo and a SAPPHIRE 100150L Radeon X1900XTX video card. I am keeping my FX-53 and everything else. The video card needs 30 amps on the 12v rail. I believe the CPU is reccomended for 24 or 26 amps on the 12v rail. Does this mean that my PSU needs 56 amps on the 12v rail??

I really really want to get this one:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3...wer_Supply_-_Titanium_w_UV_Blue_ULT31852.html

mainly because it looks so fn badass. But i fear it does not have enough amperage.

the ocz gameXStream has four 12v rails.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/4..._Supply_OCZ700GXSSLI.html?tl=g11c26s214#blank

but it is not modular, which is a feature I am looking for.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
- Nick

No you do not need 1,000,000,000 amps of +12V! :p

You do want +12V@34A or more for SLI/Crossfire.

The OCZ GXS 600W/700W will be fine, as will the new Corsair MODULAR 520W/620W. ;)

do you think that ultra x connect will work?? it has two 12v rails at 18 amps each.
That ultra x connect is a total POS!

It does NOT have a combined total of +12V@36A.

What do you expect from a $10 PSU!

Reading comprehension FTW!!!!!!

It's not an X-Connect. It's an X2 he linked. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION.

It's not even the same OEM as the original X-Connect (old was Youngyear. This is Wintech.)

It does have a combined 12V output of 34A. And it can put it out.

I had one running a pair of 7800GTX's. Nate over at Legit Reviews had two X1900's on it. The 12V dropped below spec from wherever he was measuring voltages, but the PC kept running the benchmark.

If you're only going to run one X1900 you've got more than enough power.

X-Connect = X-treme fire hazard.

Aren't you just brilliant?

For some reason, I pictured Jonny as a teacher in a classroom, yelling. Don't know why, but I found it funny.

X-connect = :(
X2-connect = :)

X-connect = single rail, 20 pin, dual 80mm
X2-connect = dual rail, 24 pin, single 120mm.

JOHHNYguru, is there any way you can link to where Nate at Legit Reviews had two x1900xtx's on the ultra x2 connect?

I just hate companies like Ultra & TT, you can never recommand any of their products,
as many people will assume that their other products are also good & recommendable!

Take the safe, logical & easy way out,
NEVER RECOMMEND any product from any company, if that company produces any "KNOWN BAD" products!

In fact IMO, it is immoral to do so, therefore never recommend any Ultra ot TT products!
