Power Supply Connection Question

Hi everyone. I come here every so often cause you guys are awesome when I need a hardware question answered. Anyways. I have a Dell computer. It has a 400w power supply. I only have onboard video right now and want to buy a Nvidia 9600gt card. Well Ive run into a possible problem. It can be minor problem or it can be big, I really dont know. Here it is. Im pressed for cash. I have about $180 I can use right now. Ive been told a 400w power supply will be fine, but the problem is it doesnt have the right connection. There is no 6-pin video card power connector on the power supply. There is also no 4-pin molex connectors. The only connectors that the power supply has are 15-pin Serial ATA power connectors. I dont know what to do. Do I have to wait a little longer until I can get a new power supply or is there some type of adaptor to convert a 15-pin Serial ATA power connector to a 6-pin vga power connector or 4-pin molex power connector?

Can anyone tell me if there is any way around buying a new power supply?

Theoretically, you can just get two of these SATA to Molex adapters and then connect the two molex connectors to the twin molex to PCI-E adapter that the video card should come with. Problem solved.

It's worth a try at $4 plus shipping.

With that said, the lack of PCI-E connectors is a kind of a sign that your power supply probably can't handle a video card that requires a PCI-E express power connector. You might need to buy a new power supply. But try the SATA to molex adapters, after getting a second opinion from someone else whether or not it'll work, since it's only $4 plus shipping.

Personally, I'd wait and save money a little longer to get a get new PSU alongside a new video card.
 
Thanks for the reply. Unless anyone says differently I think it is going to be better for me to just wait a little bit til I can get a new power supply. Im trying to rush this and get the video card right away and I know if I do this im just going to be setting myself up. We are suppose to get the tax rebate check in a few weeks so I might not have to wait too long. Well, thanks anyways. Like I said, unless someone says differently and can give me a definitive answer that that adaptor will work then Im just going to wait.
