hey all. my buddy has a Antec NSK3300 case with a 300w high-efficiency power supply (I believe its made by seasonic). He wants to upgrade from onboard video to a 8600gt but we were wondering if his poor little power supply could handle it.

It has 2 +12 rails rated at +12V1 14.5A and +12V2 8A.

Hes running:

C2D E6300 w/ stock cooler (non-OC)
2x1gb DDR2-800
1 HDD
1 DVD-RW
1 120mm case fan

pretty much just the basics.

what do you guys think?

Easily when using quality PS like Seasonic.
Most accurate power calculator (imho) http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php
Calculated that with 8600GTS option (no GT on calculator, but GTS uses more power).
Typical combined 12V amps while gaming: 10,2
Recommended PSU wattage for decent brand PSU: 241 w
Recommended 12V combined amps for decent brand PSU: 16.7 A
