What are the sata plugs on the new psus used for, my sata drive has a normal molex plug and two slots, (one to connect to the mobo), is the otherone an alternative power source.
If so is there any difference between the 2 different power inputs.
 
The SATA power connectors obviously go to the power connector slot on the sata drive, older sata drives have both the 4 pin molex connector and the sata power connector, newer ones only have the sata power connector. If your psu has sata connectors use them, since the hot swap feature of sata only works with the sata conectors (both power and bus) not with the molex. You cannot use the sata power conector and the legacy molex conector at the same time ! Be careful, the new sata conectors are a bit fragile and in the case of the bus cable do not like to be sharply bent. Make sure you put them in correctly.
