would a 350W power supply cut it for a P4? i'm just gonna run the usual stuff.. nothing crazy.. cd-rw and dvd drives. vid card. sound card.. that's about it... is 350 good?

What manufacturer(s) are you looking to buy from.
CAn you provide the specific Rails that they have on the PSU(s) you are looking at?
It should be listed as something similar to this:
3.3V +5V +12V
17A 30A 20A

I ask for this extra information because some 350W PSU's can run a P4 no problem, but others can't or will die sooner than later and perhaps take other things out with it. Not every PSU marked 350W is truely 350Watts anyway and the important thing to note is how many Amps it has available on the above listed Rails. The example I put up there is just that and isn't meant to suggest what the rails of a good PSU look like btw.

A 350 watt ps would be ok. If it's one that come with a case, try it and see if it's adequate.

I would recommend 400W minimum for a P4 and a modern video card.
that's funny...cause that site says I need a 341w psu....and I'm running on a 200w psu. Either I've got a super badass psu...or their formula is off...

Anyway...a 350w will be fine as long as you don't get too crazy with parts. if you could get us a list fo what you will be running...we can give you a more direct answer

... Wow that site is ridiculous.
5 Watts for a USB Device. Hmm, lets do some math. USB=5v
W = V * A
5w = 5v * A
A=1

1 amp of power drawn over the USB ports, eh? I'd love to see how they pull that off :rolleyes:

They're high on some things, low on others. :rolleyes:

Never trust someone who is trying to sell you something to recommend the correct product. They're in the business of making $$$, and if that means telling you that you need a 6000000W PSU, then they'll do it.

Post some parts as has been suggested, and we'll go from there.
