Power problems for computer
I bought a motherboard from newegg's refurbished department to replace a dead motherboard I had for a system...

The problem is I know most parts of my computer are fine except the PSU maybe flakey, its a generic 350W...

Whats plugged in...
Cpu + cpu HSF
1 stick of RAM
1 dvd drive
video card

And I get no display at all on a tested monitor... So i swap the AGP video card I had with a PCI video card, still no display... But I do get a signal light from the monitor and I can hear the monitor 'flickering'...

But for some reason my dvd-drive will not receive power...

Fans are spinning...

Thats 1 scenario... Scenario 2 goes like this... I would boot the computer
But I would get absolutely no green signal light on my monitor BUT my dvd-drive is working now, and my CPU + PSU Fan seems to be spinning at a faster RPM.

It seems to me like theres a power issue with this system...

If the motherboard is unable to regulate the distrubution of power would it be able to control the power given to the PSU Fan??

Or does this seem more like a PSU issue?

Or maybe something else?

I know I can switch to a different PSU and test it out, but I just want to hear from you guys first before I start unmounting things

reset the cmos

make sure everything is properly seated

clean the connectors of the ram, vid, etc..

I tried resetting the CMOS, and upon doing so was when I discovered scenario 2 where the fans seem to be going faster, but after about 2 boots or so it'll go back to scenario 1, Not sure if its a coincidence i resetted the CMOS that it'll have more juice

I tried removing the DVD drive to see what happens I get scenario 1 again...


I'll probably unmount everything and unmount a working enermax from another PC later on
