Hey guys. I posted a similar thread in the display forum, but got no responses. maybe this is the right forum to do it. About 10 days ago, I got a KDS 22" widescreen lcd. Before that I was using a 19" Princeton LCD. I've got an ATI X1950XTX and at the moment both lcds are connected to it via DVI. The 22" is using a dual-link dvi cable while the 19" is using the regular dvi cable (not sure this is important). But anyway, the problem is that since getting the second monitor, both monitors randomly flicker ever so often. The 19" shows the "digital" message sometimes. This never happened when I only had 1 monitor. Aside from that, I'm using UltraMon to put different wallpapers on the monitors.
Now power-wise, I've got two power strips connected to two different wall outlets (different sides of the room), but I have alot of stuff connected:
- computer
- 2 lcds
- Z5500 speakers
- halogen desklamp
- iHome ipod radio
- Canon printer
- Motorola signal booster
- wireless router
- 19" TV
Is it possible that I'm just overloading the power strips? One of them I know for sure is a surge protector, but it was only like $20 and I'm not sure how effective it is. The other one is kind of old. I'm sure my computer is drawing a lot of power b/c there's a lot of stuff in it (see sig).
You guys think it's just a video issue or a power issue? And if you think it's a power issue, what should I do? I'll say this, when i turn my halogen lamp on and off, my z5500 sub/speakers pop.
Anyway, if someone take a moment and help me out, I'd appreciate it. I might be going out shopping today, so I'd like to be sure about the problem before I go spending money.
I see all kinds of surge protectors around but not sure which ones to get.
Ok I guess that's it for now. Thanks in advance!
