Looking at some guides and reviews for OC'ing the 805D, i've pretty much found out it requires a ton of power, along with cooling methods (I got the 805D and parts in the mail right now, with watercooling from Petra's)
So I was wondering, would this regular old case PSU be enough to power this sucker to atleast the 3.6ghz range? Case PSU
So yeah, that could pose to be an interesting problem when the PSU could hold back the overclock, so in that case, if the case PSU isn't enough, reccomend me a good *CHEAP!* powersupply for the 805D
Replies appreciated, thanks in advanced.
EDIT: Reading the Tom's Hardware article on the 805D, the *theoretical* power used by the proccessor is 142 watts at 4ghz. Probably higher under load. The PSU is 450 watts, but since i'm pretty err... technologically retarded in the power supply and consumption department, i'm not sure where the proccessor draws power from, the 12v rail? If thats the case, what else draws power from a 12v rail. The case PSU is 220 watts on the 12v rail. My other hardware includes a 7600gt, 1 gig of patriot DDR2-667 ram, and a Gigabyte p965-s3 motherboard.
