Power for case fan?

Which is a better place to plug a case fan into for power, the motherboard or the psu? I just bought two quit fans that have the small 3 pin plug on it and I could use the MB, but I'd have to buy an adapter to use the psu. So what should I do or does it matter? Thanks!

depends on the power rating...

if it pulls more than 0.5A at 12V, then it is better at psu
 
According to the sli-deluxe manual, the mobo connectors support up to 2A/24W each or if you use 2 or more fans, then a max of 3.48A/41.76W at 12V
 
I run, 2x80mm tri-cool fans, 1x120mm tri-cool, and 92x38mm thermal controlled fan on my ASUS SLU non delux..no problems at all
