Power Consumption Worries

Hey Guys, been away for a while.

Needed everyone's advice on some Power consumption issues.

My buddy wants to upgrade the memory and video card on his Dell Optiplex GX400
His current configuration is:
1.7 P IV
256MB (2x128MB) RDRAM PC600 ECC
20GB IBM Deskstar
160GB Western Digital
DVD-ROM
CD-RW
128 ATi Rage 16MB
250 Watt Power Supply

We bought the RDRAM PC600 ECC 2x128.

And I was wondering which Graphics card to get but am worried about whether his power supply will be able to handle it. His budget isnt very lavish and I was thinking on the lines of a nice 9600 pro or NV5700

Thoughts and Advice please ?
 
It should be find, those 2 cards dont require as much power as the newer video cards. dont worry too much
 
I don't know the specs on the Dell's PSUs... but either of those vid cards will be pushing the PSU close to it's limits..

I think it will be fine. I had an HP with a Pentium 4 2.26Ghz, 1GB RAM, GeForce Ti 4600 128MB, two optical drives, and an 80GB 7200rpm HDD and it only had a generic 200w mATX PSU installed in it.
