Power Consumption with Haswell

Hi, all.

I was going to get an i3 3220 ($120-ish), largely because of its low power consumption (at idle and full load) and also because it meets my needs from a performance standpoint (I don't need something high-end).

Is there anything to suggest in the preliminary specs that one of the Haswell chips would be a superior option to this at roughly the same price? Are people looking to be on the "low end" of the computing power scale advised to wait for Haswell?
 
Whether or not you should get Haswell over Ivy Bridge should depend on whether or not you can wait for Haswell. Though we know that Haswell will perform better and run at a lower voltage than Ivy Bridge, we've heard nothing so far about what particular Haswell-based processors will be released first.

Hell, I haven't even heard of a concrete time frame as to when we can expect Haswell in retailers.
 
Nothing out on the Core i3 Haswell's TDP but best guess is 35-45W. We'll see as we get closer to 3rd quarter 2013. In comparison i3 3220 has a TDP of 55W and i3 2100 has TDP of 65W.
 
Reasonable estimates say yes it should be a big improvement on efficiency. The downside is how long can you wait. The rumor mill says that its the i5 and i7 models coming first with i3 being down the road a bit.
