Power cables and Hard Drive

This is something I never really understood.. on the power cables it's labeled such as P1, P2, P3, and etc but do each have to go in specific places? Such as P2 can ONLY be connected to the floppy or something? Because I really don't know which numbers belong in where and hopefully someone here can tell me what each P# belongs into.

My next question is using 2 hard driver. I put my main HD as master and my 2nd hard drive as slave but didn't work. So I switched them around (on the hard drive cable) and still didn't work. I'm guessing it's because my slave also has Win XP installed?

OK, I'm going to try to answer that, but for all I know, I could be wrong. I don't think so, though.

From my experience, it shouldn't matter. I put an extra CD-RW and HD in my Dell desktop, and I just used whichever power connector was the closest that would fit. Everything works fine for me.
On a side note, I think that the floppy power cable might be a bit smaller than the other ones though.

Anyone, feel free to correct me :)

Hope this helps (and that it's right ;) ).
